Our Work
Desired Hope’s mission is to engage and support individuals, families and communities who have or are being affected by the current pandemic or any other disaster. Do you know someone affected by the corona virus infection (COVID-19) and are you wondering how best to support them during this time? Or have you been affected by the pandemic? While we obviously can’t physically be there for someone who is quarantined or currently infected with COVID-19, we are here to support you or your loved ones.
It is completely acceptable to be worried during an epidemic. In 2020, a group of researchers teamed up to examine the impact 21st-century viral epidemics have on mental health. The review, published in Frontiers in Psychiatry, showed that living through an epidemic can lead to a variety of mental health conditions, the most common being anxiety, depression, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). In some cases, these effects lingered long after the epidemics subsided. It is against this background that Desired Hope was established.
